1. The analytics
This site counts things itself. There is no third party — no Google, no Plausible, no Cloudflare beacon. Measurements go to this site’s own address and into a database owned by Shwetha Devanga, and are shared with nobody.
For each page you open, it records: the page, where you arrived from (the site, not the full link — linkedin.com, not the address you clicked), your country and region, and whether you are on a phone, tablet or computer.
On articles it also records how far down you read — a quarter, half, three-quarters, the end — and how many seconds the page was actually in front of you. This is here for one reason: so the writing can be judged on whether it holds a reader, rather than on how many people clicked a link. It also records clicks on links leading off this site, and whether the interactive tools were actually used rather than only opened.
There are no cookies, no fingerprinting, and no identifier that outlives the browser tab. A short random number is held for as long as the tab is open, purely so a scroll can be matched to the page it happened on; close the tab and it is gone for good. Your IP address is visible to the server for the instant it takes to answer the request, is never read by this site’s code, and is never stored.
Your city is deliberately not recorded, though it is available. On a site with few visitors, a city together with a reading trail starts to describe a person, and this site is not in that business. Region is as precise as it goes.
1b. Links that carry a tag
When Shwetha sends this site’s address with a job application or a post, the link sometimes carries a tag, like ?ref=example-role. It records which of her own links was used — not who used it. It identifies the channel, not the person, and it holds nothing that could be traced back to you.
2. What the site itself stores
Only your own choice. If you use the ribbon at the bottom to opt out (or dismiss it), that preference is saved in your browser’s local storage on your device. It is not a cookie, it is never sent anywhere, and it identifies no one.
3. What is never collected
No names, no email addresses, no form data (there are no forms — email is a plain link), no cookies, no fingerprinting, no city, no stored IP address, and no identifier that survives the tab being closed. Nothing is sold, and nothing is shared with anyone. It is counts and scroll positions, not people.
3b. How long it is kept
Event records are deleted after 12 months. You may ask for anything relating to your visits to be removed sooner, at the address below — though in practice there is nothing held that could be matched to you.
Your choice
Because none of it identifies anyone, measurement is on by default. Opt out from the ribbon at the bottom of any page and it stops completely — not reduced, not anonymised further: no measurement is sent at all, on this page or any other, for as long as the choice is remembered. That behaviour is tested, not merely intended. Your choice lives in your own browser; clearing your browser storage resets it.
Governance
This site is designed to align with the GDPR, the ePrivacy rules on cookies, and India’s DPDP Act through data minimisation — the simplest compliant posture is to process no personal data at all, which is what a cookie-free, form-free static site does. Because the site now collects its own measurements rather than delegating to a provider, no third party processes anything and there is no external data policy to defer to.
